Ceilidh - Information & how you can help

The Ceilidh is fast approaching next weekend and we are almost sold out! Only 9 tickets remaining!

As with every Ceilidh we organise, it is not possible to run without the help of volunteers in the lead up to the event and on the evening itself.

We are looking for volunteers to help out for 30 minute slots either behind the Bar or supervising the Balcony area inside the Chapel.

We would also greatly appreciate if volunteers could assist with either the setup of the Chapel on Friday after school or on the Sunday morning when we clean up.

If you are able to help out in any way please click here and add your name to the lists on the google doc.

A reminder also that we are still collecting prizes for the raffle. They can be dropped off at either Conquest House (Mitcham Campus) until Monday (18th June) or at the band room on Torrens Park campus until Thursday (21st June).

Ceilidh Raffle / Auction prizes

As I’m sure you are aware the Ceilidh is fast approaching. If you have not organised your tickets yet, there are still a few remaining, but space is becoming very limited.

As always, we will be holding a raffle on the evening and donations towards this would be greatly appreciated. Raffle donations should be handed in at the band room on Torrens Park Campus or at Conquest House on Mitcham, by Monday 18th June.

Some donation ideas could include: Wine, chocolates, sweets, books, jams, pamper pack items, olive oil, gardening gifts, dried fruit, nuts, gift vouchers, etc. All donations are greatly appreciated.

We will also be conducting a silent auction for higher value donations. All auction items will receive acknowledgement at the Ceilidh.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact egraham@scotch.sa.edu.au .

Thank you for your support of the Pipers, Drummers and Highland Dancers of the Caledonian Corps.

Caledonian Ceilidh (Kay - lee) - Save the Date!

Where and when?

The annual Caledonian Ceilidh (Kay – lee) will take place on evening of Saturday 23rd June in the Fisher Chapel. The event is a highlight of the Pipe Band and Highland Dancing calendar.

What happens at a Ceilidh?

The Ceilidh will be a fun evening of music, dance and song, with the Pipe Band performing and the Highland dancers showcasing their talents. Everybody will be on the dance floor enjoying some traditional Scottish country dancing. It will be a great opportunity to bring together our members from the Mitcham Campus, Torrens Park Campus, our Old Collegians and the wider Scotch community.

Tickets?

Watch this space! Ticket information will be posted on the blog and on our Facebook site next week.

How can you help?

If you are able to help out in any way with the planning of the Ceilidh or on the night of Ceilidh, please email egraham@scotch.sa.edu.au

Holiday Activities: Flag Laying and the ANZAC Day March

Flag Laying at Centennial Park

On Tuesday April 17th we have the annual flag laying at Centennial Park Cemetery.  We traditionally send a  couple of pipers to this event.  This year we have Oscar and Ben U attending.
The boys will march the school party down to the memorial cross.  A soloist (Oscar) will pipe for the Lament (Flowers of the Forest) and then the boys will play as the flag laying starts.
Meet at Centennial Park at 4:30 pm.  Full uniform including jackets.

ANZAC DAY Update

The annual ANZAC Day March is being held on Wednesday April 25th.  We are in Group 7.  This year we need to meet for tuning in the southern side of North Terrace outside the Masonic Hall. We need to meet at 8:30 am.

Care Monkey details have been sent out this week and it is vital that this is completed in advance of ANZAC Day.

A reminder that no transport is provided for this event and student will be responsible for ensuring that they have the correct inform and instruments with them.

Only bring what you will carry on the march. This means no pipe or drum cases. We have no scope to move them from the assembly area to the finish.

The parade starts marching at 9:30 am so we have time to tune and move into the parade sequence.
From the start we shall march down North Terrace, wheel into King William Street and end up near the Women's and Children's hospital on Sir Edwin Smith Avenue and the corner of Pennington Terrace.  This is where we shall disperse.  We can not predict the time for dispersal but it is usually around 11 am.  Students should bring mobile phones so they can contact parents.
Please watch the blog for uniform details.  The decision about whether we shall wear waist coats only or waist coats and jackets will be made closer to the 25th.

ANZAC DAY

The Pipe Band will be performing in at the annual ANZAC Day Parade on the 25th of April through the streets of Adelaide.

I will be attending a meeting at the Torrens Parade Grounds later this week where I will be advised of the exact positioning of the band within the parade.

As with previous years, we will meet in the City at 8:30 am. The exact location will be updated on the Caledonian blog and Facebook site once confirmed.

The parade starts marching at 9:30 am so we have time to tune and move into the parade sequence.

From the start, we shall march down North Terrace, wheel into King William Street and end up near the Women's and Children's hospital on Sir Edwin Smith Avenue and the corner of Pennington Terrace. This is where we shall disperse.  Unfortunately, we can not predict the time for dispersal but it is usually around 11 am. Students should bring mobile phones so they can contact parents.

All students must sign out with a staff member before they leave.

Please watch the blog for uniform details. The decision about whether we shall wear waist coats only or waist coats and jackets will be made closer to the 25th.

Please note that transport is not provided for this event and that students will be responsible for taking their uniform and instuments home prior to the end of term. The band room will not be open on the morning of ANZAC Day to collect equipment.

Highland Dancing - Week 11

Please note that lessons will resume as normal this week.
